Piezoelectrically Tuned Electro-optic Device
Towards fabricating stress-tuned lasers on GaAs ubstrates, four major topics have been addressed. First, fabrication of piezoelectric thin films on GaAs has been accomplished. A maximum remnant polarization of 20 ~C/cm2 and a coercive field of 60 kV/cm were achieved. Improvement in the quality of the Si3N 4 passivation layer (from a pinhole density of 1700 mm-2 down to 60 mm-2) and optimization...
متن کاملElectro-optic modulation of single photons.
We use the Stokes photon of a biphoton pair to set the time origin for electro-optic modulation of the wave function of the anti-Stokes photon thereby allowing arbitrary phase and amplitude modulation. We demonstrate conditional single-photon wave functions composed of several pulses, or instead, having Gaussian or exponential shapes.

Here we report the demonstration of a GHz-speed Lithium Niobate (LiNbO3) modulator that uses an amorphous Silicon waveguide to strongly confine light. The compact (o1 mm) modulator is realized by low-temperature deposition of hydrogenated amorphous Silicon (a-Si:H) onto a x-cut LiNbO3 substrate. The a-Si:H provides tight waveguide mode confinement while allowing strong evanescent coupling to th...
متن کاملElectro-Optic Modulation using a Polymeric Microring Resonator with Highly Photostable Chromophores
Direct waveguide definition of a negative photoresist (SU8) containingtricyanovinylidenediphenylaminobenzene (TCVDPA) as electro-optic (EO) chromophore, has been demonstrated for the first time. This was possible by utilizing the chromophorelow absorption window in the UV region allowing crosslinking of the host polymer byexposing to UV light followed by thermal curing. TCVDPA wa...
